Scientific program

ECVN 2026, Berlin | 38th ESVN - ECVN Symposium | Veterinary Encephalitis

Thursday 17th September, 2026 | Residents’ Day

At our Residents Day in Berlin, PD Dr. Jasmin Nessler (Diplomate ECVN) and Dr. Barbara Riond (FVH Laboratory & Basic Medicine) will lead participants through a detailed examination of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) diagnostics. They will use clinical case material from different species (small and large animals) and demonstrate the diagnostic relevance of CSF analysis across species. Through interactive discussion, key aspects of sample acquisition, evaluation, and interpretation will be highlighted.

The programme is designed to support residents in their training and examination preparation and to enhance daily diagnostic decision-making in clinical practice, particularly in settings where specialised laboratory support is not readily available.

In preparation for the session, participants will receive pre-course materials based on the “flipped classroom” approach, enabling them to review essential background information and actively engage in the clinical case discussions.
